Manjaro Linux has updated its ISO with Manjaro 20 Lysia. It now supports snap and flat pack packages in Pamac. The ZFS option has been added to the Manjaro Architect installer and the latest 5.6 kernel is used as a basis.
It’s pouring with the new sales. Last week Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was released. Fedora 32 will be available soon, and Manjaro has released version 20, codenamed Lysia.
What’s new in Manjaro 20 Lia?
A lot, actually. Let me show you some of the most important innovations of Manjaro 20.
New Game Theme
Manjaro 20 has a new standard theme called Matcha. It makes your office shinier.
Snap and Flatpak support at Pamac andterminal
Improved support for Snap and Flatpak packages. You can use it on the command line if you like.
You can also enable support for snaps and flat packs in the package manager of the Pamac GUI.
Activating Instant Support in Pamak Manjaro
Once activated, you can find and install the Snap/Flatpak applications in the Pamac Software Manager.
Instant applications in the Pamac
Pamac proposes to install new search-based software (in GNOME).
In the GNOME variant, the Pamac software manager now allows you to install the right software if you are looking for something. The GNOME Software Center does this in other distributions that use GNOME desktops.
ZFS Support field at Manjaro Architect
You can now just use ZFS as root in Manjaro Linux. ZFS file system support is available in Manjaro Architect.
Note that I say Manjaro Architect, a terminal-based installer. This is not the same as a normal Calamares graphical installer.
Linux kernel 5.6
The latest stable Linux 5.6 kernel provides additional hardware support for Thunderbolt, Nvidia and USB4. You can also use VPN WireGuard.
Other miscellaneous functions
- New versions of the desktop environment : Xfce 4.14, GNOME 3.36 and KDE plasma 5.18
- zsh is the new standard shell
- With the display profiles you can save one or more profiles for your desired display configuration.

Where did you get the Manjaro 20 Lia?
If you are already using it, just upgrade your Manjaro Linux system and you should already be using version 20.
Manjaro uses a rental model, which means you don’t have to switch manually from one version to the other. A reinstallation is not necessary when the new version is released.
If Manjaro is a loan distributor, why does it occasionally publish a new version? Indeed, they need to update the ISO so that new users who download Manjaro do not have to install the updates of recent years. That is why Arch Linux also updates its ISO on a monthly basis.
Manjaro ISO updates are given a code name and a version because they help the developers to clearly identify each stage of development.
The fact is that if you are already using it, just update your Manjaro Linux system using Pamac or the command line.
If you want to try Manjaro or use ZFS, you can install Manjaro by downloading the ISO from the Manjaro website :
